I went to bed smiling and woke up with the same smile after my interview with journalist and presenter Geeta Pendse yesterday evening. Geeta is working on a podcast which aims to give a voice to women who are childless by circumstance or by choice and graciously asked me to be one of her first interviewees on her podcast aptly titled 1 in 5; because 1 in 5 women in the UK between the ages of 44 to 49 are childless by circumstance.

“There’s a power in allowing yourself to be known…”

Being the experienced journalist that she is, Geeta led me through the 40 minutes scheduled for my interview with ease and grace, guiding me through my journey, my thoughts and experiences as a woman who married at 39 and uncovering my infertility at 43 to the activist I have become. It was a beautiful, soulful dance that I will treasure. As Michelle Obama says “There’s a power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice”. Geeta saw deep within me and allowed that inner me to be seen. She allowed me to stand strong in my vulnerability!

The podcast will be out in November.
